Ficus

Someone spray me with a squirt bottle if I buy anymore of these**, they need SO much light. I love them so much though.

Ficus Benjamina (Cream Variegation)

  • Obtained: November 2025
  • Image Last Updated: January 2026
  • Notes: This plant probably should have been on my wishlist (loved it for years, even before getting into plants), but I had no confidence that I'd ever be able to find one that wasn't office plant-sized. Found this one randomly at a little popup shop at a farmer's market for $3 wahooo.

Researching this plant has led to the unfortunate discovery that it's possible for asthmatics to develop allergies to the Benjamina over time... I'm gonna try to be careful with it...give it monthly showers to keep the dust/pollen off. Might keep it pruned to a small size. Wait and see whether I'm in that affected percentile rather than outright dismiss the possibility for myself, Y'KNOW...

This plant has been fast-growing to an extent that it scares me a little.

Ficus Benjamina (Green-on-Green Variegation)

  • Obtained: November 2025
  • Image Last Updated: January 2026
  • Notes: The farmer's market guy also had a green variegated one and I couldn't decide. So I got two asthma plants! Fucking whatever!!!! Look how pretty it is!!!

Ficus Tineke

  • Obtained: March 2024
  • Image Last Updated: January 2026
  • Notes: My OG ficus. :') I bought this on a particularly cold day and hugged it on instinct as I got blasted with arctic air in the parking lot, only to find that I had damaged the latest emerging leaf....It's funny that is now one of the bottom-most leaves, you can still see the fractures on it. It's a little over a foot tall as of Jan 2026. I am a little too pleased with how instagramable this latest shot of it turned out.

Ficus Shivereana

  • Obtained: September 2025
  • Image Last Updated: September 2025
  • Notes: A birthday present from my mom! Bought from a conservatory, which is extra neat to me.
  • Nearly half a year with this plant and it hasn't grown a single new leaf yet, which I am totally cool with. Feel free to stay cabinet-sized forever little guy.

Ficus Triangularis Variegata

  • Obtained: April 2024
  • Image Last Updated: Sepember 2024
  • Notes: I think I am now used to how dramatic these are. It tends to drop all its leaves when its environment changes (see image below). That being said, I really like mine. Would really like to get a better growlight over it so I can actually look at the fronts of the leaves... u_u

  • Had a brief scare with it in Summer 2025 'cuz we had an intense heatwave, but honestly the way it bounced back like nothing happened afterwards has kind of left me feeling like people should give these more credit hahaha...resilient!

  • Put out little berries around Feb 2025 wughhhh...really cute... Wish I could have released hornets in my room to pollinate these (normal thing to type).
